Darkness Falls is best handled as a separate 7DTD profile with its own save, rules, and expectations. It can change progression, pacing, classes, balance, and multiplayer requirements.

Before You Install

  • Use a clean profile. Do not mix an overhaul with an existing vanilla save unless you are prepared to lose that run.
  • Check the game branch. Major 7DTD updates can break progression, quests, items, UI, and XML changes.
  • Keep the mod list simple. Add-ons that also change progression or loot can conflict with an overhaul.
  • Write server rules first. Players need the same version expectations before joining a Darkness Falls server.
